Yesterday I spent part of the afternoon playing at a wedding at Sutton Bonington Hall not far from Kegworth south of Nottingham. It was a lovely old house and had some excellent gardens at the back.

It was an older couple getting married and the bride had booked our band because her husband-to-be was a keen brass band fan. We played for an hour after the wedding and just before they went in for their reception. Luckily the weather was nice for them.

I only mention this because I thought it was a particularly nice occasion. There was no big, fancy church wedding and massive reception, just a small wedding in this charming old building with a relatively small band of friends and family. Much preferable to the stress and expense of inviting everyone you know/related to to a debt-inducing huge wedding.

Good luck to them.
