This lovely thing is hanging on the wall at my favourite pub, the Pottle of Blues. They have extended the musical them to include modified instruments on their wall.

The guitar doesn’t cast much light, and it tends to get in the way of people’s heads when they sit down, but it is a pretty thing. I love the Pottle. They always have a great selection of beers on tap and the clientele are a fabulous, eclectic bunch.

The place is run by a pair of hilarious lunatics too, so I always have a fun time in here.

It is Friday, so I am in my favourite pub in Beeston for my weekly 45 minutes. It is a ‘Blues’ themed pub, hence the poster of the Blues Brothers on the wall.

When the owners decided to create the Pottle of Blues they managed to buy a job lot of broken, unplayable LPs, so the walls are decorated with those too. I’m told they were all damaged, so there’s no music, and they do look the business on the wall.

Tonights ale was a Leatherbritches one – a fine pint.

I have been enjoying a lovely beer in my favourite Beeston drinking hole; the Pottle of Blues. It’s a fabulous micro pub that has limited, but excellent, cask ales and the best clientele.

This is one of only a few pubs I’d go into on my own for a drink. I’d have never done this at all during my 20s and 30s, but am finding a new lease of life as an occasional pub loiterer.

The owners are a bit mad, which helps. Drinks are always amusing in here.

I have found a little place of wonder where I can spend an hour enjoying some lovely beer and chat to nice strangers. That place is the Pottle of Blues in Beeston.

It’s a ‘micro-pub’ that has emerged from an old candle shop, and it has just four real ales on at once, plus a few ciders. It’s small but perfectly formed. The owners are a bit mad, which is fitting for such an establishment.

I get to come here for a bit while my daughter is enjoying her theatre group. I can sit and read, or chat with the locals. It’s lovely.
