    11/365/2018 Blog

11/365/2018 Blog by rutty is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA I love taking photos and I also like to blog, so each photo I take for my 365 subsequently gets stuck up as a post on my site. This is what it currently looks like. I’m using a nifty free theme called Cubic. I love the […]

  • All change

Hello there. I’m still here but been a little busy recently. I’ve recently moved the blog to a new server (cloud-based, so that should probably be servers) and I’m yet to import all my old posts. I’ve, er, forgotten where the exported file is… Anyway, normal service will be resumed shortly. Probably. In the meantime […]

  • Decorating

As is sometimes seen in shops and restaurants: please excuse our appearance while work is in progress. I’m trying out a few themes at the moment. I go in cycles with this. I’m trying to work out a decent minimalist theme that’s typography-based. The one that’s active now – Wu Wei – appeals to me […]

  • Yet another new theme

My quest for a blog theme continues. This time I’m trying out Irresistible by Woo Themes, a rather nice free theme with lots of options. This includes something that I’ve been after for a while: a lifestream. It’s not that my life is particularly exciting or anything, it’s just that I’ve been wanting to incorporate a feed of my various internet-related activities into one place, and now I have one.

  • Links for March 30th

Women told: ‘You have dishonoured your family, please kill yourself’ When Elif’s father told her she had to kill herself in order to spare him from a prison sentence for her murder, she considered it long and hard. “I loved my father so much, I was ready to commit suicide for him even though I […]

  • Bookmarks for February 15th through February 16th

NABBC National Convention – A bright but cold morning recently greeted the delegates for the 2009 National Convention of the National Association of Brass Band conductors (NABBC) at their convention venue in Lincoln. Our band performed at this event. We were delighted to be conducted by the legendary Major Peter Parkes Don’t be bitter as […]

  • Upgraded to WordPress 2.7.1

I’ve just upgraded to the new minor version of WordPress (2.7.1). I had a couple of problems that required me to deactivate the Automatic Upgrade plugin (perhaps I should just remove that now considering that the core has the ability built-in now), plus there were a few problems with file permissions which required me to […]

  • Once again with the theme changes

I can’t help myself. I just can’t stop messing with the theme for this blog. Expect things to change around a bit over the next week or so. I quite like this Firebug theme but I’ll need to personalise it a bit with bigger fonts and some other changes here and there. I’ll try not […]

  • WordPress 2.7

The latest, and possibly greatest, version of WordPress is now released. Named after freeform Jazz pioneer John Coltrane this new major release delivers an entirely new backend, the design of which was driven by the WordPress community. Apparently. It seems very nice – certainly an improvement over the previous version although it’s taking me a […]

  • Nasty personages

There are some rotten sods on the internet. Over the last two weeks I’ve had a few problems with this blog. These issues have been caused partly by the incompetence or laziness (or both) of people sharing my hosts server but also by the desire of malware writers to infect users’ PCs. I was “hacked”. […]

  • Cancer – good for your stats

Cancer is a horrible, horrible disease but it seems that one recent cancer-related news story has driven a considerable amount of extra traffic here. It was announced on Tuesday that Jade Goody has cervical cancer. This is a sad state of affairs even if I do think that Jade makes a pretty worthless “celebrity”. It’s […]

  • Yet another new theme

You know, I just can’t stop fart-arsing about with my blog theme. I think it’s a disease or something, but I’m finding it impossible to stick with just one. What makes my blog indecision harder is that Smashing Magazine keep releasing excellent free themes. This newest one, Infinity by yichi, looks gorgeous and I couldn’t […]
