This is the last of my Christmas beer, a present from my lovely Mum. She knows what makes me happy!

The last time I got this case – 12 classic British ales – this one was my favourite, so I left it until last. It’s delicious!

I’m playing with effects & overlays in this image. There’s so much you can do with photos these days, so I’m tempted to try some new effects when I think the photo can be improved by them.

I have been enjoying a lovely beer in my favourite Beeston drinking hole; the Pottle of Blues. It’s a fabulous micro pub that has limited, but excellent, cask ales and the best clientele.

This is one of only a few pubs I’d go into on my own for a drink. I’d have never done this at all during my 20s and 30s, but am finding a new lease of life as an occasional pub loiterer.

The owners are a bit mad, which helps. Drinks are always amusing in here.

I have found a little place of wonder where I can spend an hour enjoying some lovely beer and chat to nice strangers. That place is the Pottle of Blues in Beeston.

It’s a ‘micro-pub’ that has emerged from an old candle shop, and it has just four real ales on at once, plus a few ciders. It’s small but perfectly formed. The owners are a bit mad, which is fitting for such an establishment.

I get to come here for a bit while my daughter is enjoying her theatre group. I can sit and read, or chat with the locals. It’s lovely.
