They were once thought to be dead and buried, a once great band that spearheaded the more modern noises made by Metal acts. The big guy on guitar left and everyone thought that that was that.
Not so, they have a new album out soon (if not already) and I’m interested. My fave rock magazine, Metal Hammer, has a free CD on the cover every month these days and this month features a track off Fear Factory’s new album. The track is called “Cyberwaste”, and you know, it’s rather bloody good. Very heavy stuff, lots of drums and staccato guitars and the usual FF SciFi theme. Have a listen to this and see what you think.
Also on the CD (still going through it) is an excellent track by Amen – “Please Kill Me” is typical Casey Chaos stuff, lots of swearing and attitude and it’s got plenty of melody in with extended middle digits. I’m sorely tempted to get their “Death Before Musick” album, seeing as I’ve missed out on the first two.
I like getting these cover CDs – it’s good to have a listen to new stuff seeing as I don’t really listen to radio these days.
So, my mammoth listen-through of Metal Hammer’s top 100 albums of 2017 begins. My ears have been subjected to 2,275 different artists, according to Last.fm, but I have not heard of any of the first..
