I hate these bloody things.
Well, hate is too strong a word. I use them occasionally, and they do work OK, but they are ultimately disappointing headphones.
Why? Well, they are described as being ergonomically designed. The "design of the EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other earbud-style headphones". This is all well and good – they are certainly comfortable in the ear – it’s just that they in no way feel secure.
You’ve got to have pretty weird ears for these to stay in. They are fine while listening to something in bed or at your desk, but they constantly feel like they are going to fall out while walking, or turning your head a little bit.
They don’t sound too bad, but don’t fit well enough to exclude much outside noise, so traffic obliterates whatever your are listening to.
I got mine free with my iPhone, but wouldn’t pay the £29 they cost in the Apple Store – I’d spend the same money on some budget cans instead.
