Goodbye Brown Eyed Girl

I’ve spent a part of this morning at the funeral of Hayley, my friend from band. She was cruelly taken from us by Meningitis at the age of sixteen. She passed away before being able to fulfil her considerable potential, and she’ll be sadly missed by everyone that knew her.

The service that we had was termed a “Celebration of Life” and this was very apt. Even though she was so young she has left a significant impression in many, many people’s lives. She was a very intelligent, lively, funny, talented, popular beautiful girl and the crematorium was full of people saying their goodbyes and paying their respects. Most of all, they were there to remember her as she was.

Our band played a few of her favourite pieces before and afterwards. She was a fan of The Sound of Music as well as the musical Cats, so we played music from those along with some other favourites.

It just doesn’t seem fair to pass away at such a young age, but sometimes life can be like that. My love and well wishes go to her family and close friends who will miss her most.

You’ll never be forgotten Hayley.
