If you never hear from me again, it’s because I’ve caused some catastrophic failure in my PC. I’ve been having a few issues with it recently, notably freezing on boot, and so I’m in the process of finding out what the hell is causing it.
Prime suspect is the RAM, then maybe the processor, but as the hard drive is the oldest part of the box (a gigantic 6 Gig monster from my old PC) I figured that I’d better rule that out first. Plus, XP has filled up the whole thing without even trying hard.
I’ve bought a nice 80 Gig Seagate drive from Micom – a firm that operates out of an office near our Coventry office. A friend and colleague of mine, Frank, went and picked it up for me, seeing as he works down there and all. It’s very convenient and fairly competitively priced too.
I’ll be inserting this into my box (not innuendo) tommorrow morning, assuming I can get my lazy arse out of bed before I have to head off for work at 1pm. I’ll be a happy chappy if it works.
See you on the other side…
